Ranita de bebé / Baby romper

¡Hola a todos!

Espero que estéis disfrutando del invierno y cogiendo fuerzas para la próxima primavera :) Yo ya me he puesto a producir cositas para el buen tiempo, a ver si así logro escapar, aunque sea sólo en mi mente, del duro y largo invierno canadiense.

Hoy os traigo una graciosa ranita de bebé para el verano. ¿Qué os parece?

Compré la tela hace unos meses en Fabrications, una bonita tienda de Ottawa donde venden telas muy bonitas y especiales y todo lo necesario para realizar proyectos de costura creativa. La tela está realizada con algodón 100% ecológico y el estampado me encantó en cuanto lo vi. Cuando la compré no sabía qué iba a hacer con ella y al final, le encontré este bonito proyecto.

Para hacerlo, utilicé el patrón 9462 de Burda Kids, que podéis conseguir por Internet o contactando con un distribuidor de Burda. La confección es sencillita, lo más pesado quizás es hacer los vivos para el escote, las mangas y las piernas. Pero a parte de eso, es coser y cantar.

Siempre suelo tener problemas para entender las instrucciones de los patrones (al menos, la primera vez) y este caso no ha sido una excepción. En el patrón original, los hombros tienen unas tiras para poder abrocharlos con un botón. Parece ser que no lo entendí y corté antes de la cuenta, quedándome sin espacio suficiente para que la parte trasera del hombro se superpusiera en la parte delantera y pudiera coser un botón. Solución ingeniosa de Doña Tijeras: coser un par de automáticos y decorar la parte delantera con un bonito botón de madera con forma de gatito. Creo que al final no ha quedado tan mal.

¡Hi all!

I hope you are all enjoying winter and storing energy for spring ahead (yes, believe it or not, spring is around the corner). I have started to sew some projects for beautiful (and hopefully warmer) times ahead. Let's see if I can escape, even if only in my mind, from this long and cold Canadian winter.

I am bringing you today a cute baby romper for the summer. ¿How do you feel?

I got the fabric some months ago at  Fabrications, a beautiful store in Ottawa where you can get specially beautiful fabrics and anything you need for your creative sewing projects. This fabric is 100% organic cotton and I fell in love with the pattern as soon as I saw it. When I got I wasn't sure about what to do with it, but hey, don't blame me for that :)

For this project, I followed pattern 9462 from Burda Kids. It was pretty easy to sew. Perhaps the toughest part was that related to all the bias strips I had to cut, iron and sew for the neckline, armholes and fastening band (for the legs).

I usually have problems to understand patterns instructions (at least the first time that I saw a project) and this case has not been different. In the original pattern, shoulders are connected with a strip and a button. Well, I didn't understand how to do it so I made it my way. I sewed a couple of fastenings and finished the operation with a couple of cute cat shaped buttons. I think the end result wasn't that bad. What do you think?

Vestido vintage / Vintage dress

¡Hola de nuevo!

Después del post navideño anterior, os traigo un vestido vintage muy veraniego :) 

Se trata del vestido Cambie Dress de Sewaholic que podéis encontrar en su página web.

Como veis, es un vestido vintage muy alegre gracias al estampado que elegí. Al principio no estaba muy convencida pero el resultado me acabó de convencer.

Se compone de un cuello tipo corazón, las mangas van fruncidas, es ajustado a la cintura y la falda tiene mucho vuelo. La cremallera, es trasera. En las fotografías no se ve, pero lleva bolsillos a la cadera y lleva un forro interior de color rosa pálido.

Este vestido me llevó bastante trabajo pero estoy muy contenta con el resultado y este verano he recibido muchas felicitaciones por él.

Hi again my friends! 

After the last Christmas post, I am bringing you a summer vintage dress I sewed some months ago :) 

It is the Cambie Dress by Sewaholic that you can find on their website.

As you can see, the pattern is really summery and makes the dress look very fresh. I was not very sure at the begining about this fabric but, once it's done, I am really happy with the result.

The neck is heart-shapped, sleeves are gathered, it is waist adjusted and the skirt is very fullness. The zipper is on the back. You can't see it in the pictures but the dress has a couple of pockets at hips level and the has a light pink lining.

It took me a lot of work to finish this dress but I am very satisfied with the result and I received many compliments this summer for my good job :)

Vestido de lunares / Dotted Dress

Después de estos meses de sequía, he vuelto al trabajo creativo con más ganas que nunca. El fin de semana pasado hizo un tiempo increíble, típico de primavera y decidí ponerme manos a la obra para estrenar un vestido que llevaba entre manos desde hacía varias semanas.

¿Qué os parece? Desde que le eché el ojo en el catálogo de patrones de Burda, no he parado hasta tenerlo listo :)

Como veis se trata de un vestido muy sencillo y rápido de confeccionar. En realidad, son tan solo dos piezas iguales unidas por los laterales y el hombro y con cremallera en el lateral opuesto al del lazo.

La parte de delante lleva dos pequeñas pinzas a la altura del pecho y la manga va riveteada con un vivo hecho con la misma tela que el vestido.

El detalle del lazo me parece muy original y que le da el toque sofisticado a este sencillo vestido. Como véis, he puesto unas bonitas tijeras como detalle en lo que viene siendo el nudo del lazo. Estas tijeras me las regaló (junto con otras muchas más en una bolsita) una amiga de mi tía Ana. ¿No os parecen súper cucas?

Son las típicas tijeras para cortar tela, me parecen ideales!!

Y para terminar, mi etiqueta :) Como os comentaba más arriba, parece que la primavera ha llegado (¡por fin!) a Canadá, y para muestra, un botón:

After all these months without posting nor creating anything, spring has finally come to stay and I feel as productive as ever :) Last week we had an amazing sunny day and I decided it was already time to finish that project I had been pushing into the background for so many weeks.

What do you think? Since I saw it in Burda's catalogue a couple of months ago, I knew it would be my project one day :)

This is a really simple and fast dress to sew. It's just two pieces sewn together on both sides and on the shoulder side. There's also a zipper on the opposite side of the bow.

The front piece has a couple of darts around the breast and the sleeve is finished with a bias.

I think the bow is a great detail here. As you can see, I added my own touch with these beautiful scissors :)

And the label looks pretty cute too :) As I mentioned above, it looks like spring is finally here :) Look at this cute ladybug:

Falda fruncida a la rodilla / Knee-length gathered skirt

Lo prometido es deuda. Para compensar todo este tiempo de sequía os traigo otra creación de la que me siento súper orgullosa.

Es una falda con talle alto en la cintura y fruncida en la cadera. La cremallera va en la espalda y tiene una cinturilla muy original.



He utilizado una lana en color marrón con unos pequeños toques en plata que le dan un toque sofisticado. ¿Os gusta?

 Es el modelo 2512 de Cynthia Rowley para Simplicity. Yo he adaptado un poco el modelo original a mis gustos personales: he eliminado el biés y el lazo a la cintura. Creo que el resultado es positivo y ¡no veo el momento de estrenarla!

Hi again!

Since I haven't posted anything over the last weeks, I am bringing you a couple of new projects on the same day :)



This is a knee-length gathered skirt I am so in love with. I have used a wool fabric with a hint of silver which is so chic.



I have followed Cynthia Rowley for Simplicity 2512 pattern although I have modified the original pattern a bit. The original one comes with a bias at the top and the bottom and it has a bow in the waist (as you can see, I have not added these to my skirt).



I hope you like it as much as I do.

Falda larga de lana con godets /Long wool godet maxi skirt

¡Hola a todos!

Os deseo (con mucho retraso) un feliz año y espero que hayáis pasado unas muy felices fiestas. Con todo el jaleo de estas fechas he estado un poco desconectada y os he tenido un poco abandonados... aixx....

Para recompensaros, os traigo dos entradas! Espero que os gusten. En primer lugar os traigo una falda larga de lana con godets.

Se trata del modelo 2058 de Simplicity. Si os fijáis bien, es el mismo modelo que la falda de mi última entrada pero con el largo hasta los pies.

La cremallera va en el lateral izquierdo, es de talle alto, no tiene cinturilla, está montada con seis tablas, es ceñida en la cadera y a partir de la rodilla se abren los godets hasta los pies.

He utilizado una lana de traje de caballero. A mí me pareció muy bonita y (lo más importante) calentita. Por dentro la he forrado con un forro de poliéster de color burdeos.

Hi all!

I hope you're all doing great and that you had such a wonderful Xmas! I know it's a bit late but, happy belated new year!

I'm sorry for being away for such a long time but Xmas have been messy over here, I went to Spain for three weeks before the holidays and January is being pretty busy!

But here I am with something (almost) new to share with you.

As you can see, it's a long wool godet skirt I am almost wearing everyday. It's the same pattern I used for my last entry, Simplicity 2058 but longer (maxi skirt!).

 I am so in love with this skirt because it is sooo warm (I used real wool fabric) and you know, this is Canada (you don't mess with cold over here...). The fabric was supposed to be used for a gent's suit but I thought it would look so nice for a long skirt. What do you think?

The zipper is on the left hip and for the lining I used a purple polyester fabric.

I'm pretty happy with the result and I encorauge you to sew your own maxi skirt!!
